Korbush Publishing House accepts publishing orders from organizations and authors who wish to publish their works at their own expense.

Frequently Asked Questions

u

Why publish your own book?

There are countless reasons to publish your own book. It may serve as your gateway into the world of literature, enrich your list of academic or artistic publications, assert your copyright over intellectual property, or simply allow you to gift your friends a collection of your poetry — or present your family with a history of your lineage, illustrated with photos and children’s drawings.

u

What kind of book can be published?

Any book can be published, as long as its content complies with Ukrainian law. We can publish works of any genre — fiction or non-fiction. Your book may be printed in softcover or hardcover, in black and white or full color. Our specialists handle the full production process: typesetting, editing (proofreading, literary editing, artistic layout, formatting), and final printing.

u

What is official registration of a publication?

We offer a complete package of bibliographic identifiers (UDC, ISBN) to allow your book to be officially distributed, catalogued by libraries, and publicly recognized.

u

Minimum and maximum print runs

We place no restrictions on the print run. You can publish any number of copies — from a single unit to an unlimited quantity. However, to classify a book as an official publication, it must be assigned an ISBN (International Standard Book Number). According to the Law of Ukraine “On Mandatory Copy of Documents,” a certain number of copies (from 10 to 29) must be provided free of charge (at your expense) to the Book Chamber of Ukraine and to a list of state institutions and libraries (as approved by Cabinet Resolution No. 608, dated May 10, 2002).

u

Still wondering about the minimum print run...

We won’t insist on a specific number of copies or on their free distribution, but please note: if your print run is too limited, assigning an ISBN may not be possible. Therefore, we recommend printing at least 50 copies to ensure your book qualifies as an officially published edition. Also, the unit cost per book is lower with larger print runs.

Distribution of previously published books

Want to distribute books you’ve already printed? If we find your book compelling and see potential for an audience, we’re happy to assist with its distribution — on terms favorable to you. Few publishers are willing to handle already printed books. We are.

From Order To Publication

N

Step 1

Send us your request by email: include the number of author’s sheets, a synopsis, 10 pages of your manuscript, and information about yourself — or call us directly. Our manager will collect the necessary data and provide an estimated cost and production timeframe. For complex or important projects, or at your request, we can arrange a personal meeting at our office.

N

Step 2

We sign an agreement (all copyright remains with you). Together, we define the full scope of work: scanning, typesetting, editing, proofreading, artistic design, formatting, and more. If you’d like to handle any part of the prepress work yourself — for budgetary or personal reasons — we will provide the needed guidance. Once the scope is approved, payment is made. Upon request, payment can be split into two parts: 1) upon signing the agreement, and 2) before printing.

N

Step 3

Send or deliver your final manuscript to us in any convenient format and on any medium. We will immediately begin preparing the layout for printing. Before that, of course, we will complete all necessary editing and artistic work.

N

Step 4

Once the layout is complete, we send it to you for approval in a way that suits you best. At the same time, our experienced designers and artists begin creating the book cover.

N

Step 5

You approve the layout and cover — and the book goes to print. After printing is completed, we notify you, and you may either collect the entire print run or leave it with us for further distribution (as agreed individually).
